Random Pokémon Generator helps you make a quick pick without searching a full Pokédex. You can leave every filter open or narrow the pool by generation, type, category, ability, and base stat total.
Use the result for a challenge run, team idea, drawing prompt, or guessing game. The site selects existing Pokémon. It does not modify a game or ROM, create new Pokémon, or check whether a team is legal in a specific game.
From filters to results
How selection works
01
Build the pool
Your generation, type, category, and ability filters set the eligible species.
02
Shuffle candidates
The browser shuffles the filtered list before it requests detailed records.
03
Check the stats
The tool applies your BST range and keeps Pokémon that match it.
04
Show the result
A team contains no duplicate species. Locked picks stay when you reroll the rest.
Data source and coverage
Names, Pokédex numbers, types, abilities, base stats, and artwork are requested from PokéAPI when you generate a result. Live requests require an internet connection.
The current species pool covers National Pokédex entries through Generation 9. Generation means when a species first appeared.
What the tool does not check
A generation filter does not confirm that a Pokémon is available in a specific game. The tool does not check encounters, trades, evolution methods, version exclusives, movesets, or battle rules.
Shiny mode changes the displayed artwork. It does not use the encounter odds from a Pokémon game.
